# MySQLdb._exceptions.OperationalError: (1366, "Incorrect string value:)

If you have configured a MySQL database in MrDoc, when executing the database migration command:

```
python manage.py migrate
```

the following error may occur:

![](/media/202109/2021-09-08_145612_432836.png)

This indicates that there is a character encoding problem in the MySQL database.

You can enter the MySQL terminal from the command line and enter the following command to query the database character encoding:

```
show variables like '%char%';
```

The returned result:

```
mysql> show variables like '%char%';
